Direct Support Staff

Our Direct Support staff are appropriately licensed/certified, highly skilled with experience to provide services and care for individuals with developmental disabilities. All our Caregivers undergo both the state and federal criminal background checks before deployment.

Our Direct Support Staff are trained on the following subjects among others:

  • Abuse, Neglect & Incident Reporting
  • Behavior Principles & Use of Positive Behavior Intervention
  • Crisis Prevention & Intervention Techniques
  • Communicating Effectively with a Child with autism
  • First Aid
  • CPR
  • Medication Administration

    Direct Support Staff are in charge of providing the following services:

    Respite Care
    Respite care services are provided to individuals unable to care for themselves; it is NOT guided by an individualized treatment plan. The primary goal of Respite is essentially to keep the child well-cared for in natural settings, and may include overnight stays in the child’s home while the parents are away.

    Services provided during Respite Care include:
    Engaging the individual in activities that interest him/her
    Taking the individual for community and other social development outings as designated by the family
    Providing the individual assistance with daily living, and all other respite care services as requested by the child’s family

    Therapeutic Integration (TI) Services
    TI services are after school or extended day programs provided to individuals with autism at a nonresidential setting. TI services focus of expressive therapies and therapeutic recreation activities.

    Services provided during TI include:
    Therapeutic recreation services which can either be outdoor or indoor such as Volley ball, Basket ball, Community outings, Games an puzzle, etc
    Expressive Therapies such as Music Therapy, Dance Therapy, Art & Craft, Creative Dramatics etc.
    Leisure, Education & Academics Homework activities assistant, Computer games etc.
    Cognitive & Behavior Therapies Use of visual support during implementation of treatment plan goals

    Intensive Individual Support Services (IISS)
    IISS services are intensive one-on-one interventions provided to the individual with autism. When providing these services, IISS technicians receive ongoing individualized instruction and supervision by our professional staff. Most specifically, during crisis interventions, the IISS technicians are supervised very closely in order to understand the nature of the crisis and intervene as necessary to reduce the likelihood of reoccurrence.

    Services provided during IISS include:
    Goal-directed and task-oriented intervention developed on an individualized basis
    Using home and community environments as a learning experience and opportunity to illustrate and model alternative ways for the individual to behave
    Assisting the individual in achieving successful home and community living through structured support, reinforcement modeling, and behavior management, as evidenced in written progress notes
    Providing transportation and accompanying the individual to non-medical services, as necessary to his/her Treatment Plan
