Direct Support Professional (DSP)
Job Type: Part-time
Responsibilities
  • Provide travel training;
  • Able to manage behaviors;
  • Implement individual’s Person Centered Plan;
  • Provide assistance with activities of daily living;
  • Able to help and assist with toileting;
  • Provide transportation services to community activities and events;
  • Provide transportation to, from, and within activities;
  • Assist, support and instruct individuals in self-help skills designed to encourage independence
  • Facilitate and promote integration and inclusion in the individual’s chosen community; including identifying a path to employment for a working age individual;
  • Assist the individual with self-advocacy classes and activities;
  • Engage the individual in local community events;
  • Personal care assistance which may also be provided during community activities.
  • Provide documentation of care provided, activities performed for each goal area using the daily contact log
Job Requirements
  • Be at least 18 years old (ID card – Driver’s License, Birth Certificate etc.);
  • Have a Bachelor’s Degree or demonstrate one (1) year of life experiences and skills in navigating a broad; range of community resources for individuals with a developmental disability and their families;
  • Be current in first aid and CPR certification;
  • Pass a criminal background investigation, have child protective services clearance, if supporting a child;
  • Complete necessary pre/in-service training based on the Person-Centered Plan;
  • Complete the new DDS required training by July 1, 2019 or sooner. After July 1, 2019 all new hires must complete the new DDS training prior to service delivery;
  • Possess a valid Driver’s License, if the operation of a vehicle is necessary to provide services; and
  • Have Automobile Insurance for automobiles that are owned, leased, and/or hired and used in the provision of services.
